Impact of Microfinance in rural upliftment-A study of Ahmedabad district

Abstract

Microfinance is financial services provided to poor population. Poor population finds it hard to get access to formal financial system. Still, they need financial assistance to meet their needs. Microfinance provides poor population financial services at reasonable rates. By assisting poor with financial services Microfinance increases their income by providing employment opportunities. By economically improving lives of poor, it helps poor to increase their standard of living. Microfinance can be utilized as a tool to improve standard of living in rural level as well. The present study attempts to examine the impact of Microfinance on rural upliftment in Ahmedabad district of Gujarat. The study found that Microfinance has significant impact in the direction of rural upliftment.
