Abstract

Women contribute half of the population in any nation. But unfortunately, the male dominance remains prevalent in almost all the countries of the world in every sector and agriculture sector is not much an exception to this trend. Young adults in search of better living standard after receiving education are seen migrating to nearby cities showing less interest in farming unlike their predecessors. Thus, gradually the control of agricultural activities is being taken over by the women though they enjoy lesser ownership right to land considered less important in respect of farm decisions. This paper aims to explore the process of decision-making in the women's farming community of the hill and terai region of west Bengal.
