The Emergence of the Tamil Issue in Sri Lanka in Relation to India

श्रीलंका में तमिल समस्या का उद्भव भारत के संबंध में

Abstract

India and Sri Lanka are neighboring states connected by a maritime boundary. Both nations have developed similar cultures and have shared historical ties since ancient times. During the colonial period, both were ruled by the same colonial power; however, in the post-colonial era, while their relations remained cordial, certain points of conflict also emerged. The most significant of these conflicts is the Tamil issue, which has historical roots. The primary cause of the Tamil issue has been the struggle for control over Sri Lanka’s resources. Both the Sinhalese, who form the majority, and the Tamils, who are a minority, seek dominance over these resources. Interestingly, both ethnic groups trace their origins to India. Following Sri Lanka’s independence from colonial rule, the Tamil issue intensified, leading to strained relations between the two countries.

Abstract in Hindi Language: भारत और श्रीलंका दोनों पडोसी राज्य है जो जलीय सीमा द्वारा आपस में जुडे हुये हैं। दोनों ही राज्यों की संस्कृति समान रूप से विकसित हुई है और दोनों के मध्य प्राचीनकाल से ही संबंध स्थापित रहे हैं। औपनिवेशिक काल में दोनों ही राज्य एक ही शक्ति द्वारा शासित रहे परंतु उत्तर औपनिवेशिक काल में दोनों के मध्य मधुर संबंधों के साथ-2 कुछ टकराव के बिन्दु भी रहे। टकराव के बिन्दुओं में सबसे अहम कारक तमिल समस्या है जिसका उद्भव इतिहास मे हुआ। तमिल समस्या का मुख्य कारण श्रीलंका के संसाधनों पर अधिकार रहा है। श्रीलंका की मूल जाति सिहली और अल्पसंख्यक तमिल दोनों ही संसाधनों पर अपना-अपना अधिकार चाहते हैं। जबकि दोनों जातियों का उद्गम स्थल भारत रहा है। श्रीलंका की औपनिवेषिक शासन से स्वतंत्रता के साथ यह समस्या विकराल रूप लेती गयी जिसने दोनों देषों के संबंधों में कटुता उत्पन्न की।
