Maternal nutrition is important for fetal growth and development. The pregnant women need to have adequate knowledge to maintain their nutritional status during pregnancy. In gestational period fetus is a rapidly grown in mother’s womb. The nutritional requirement of pregnant women is essential for growth of the fetus and other development throughout pregnancy and delivery of the child. Health of pregnant influenced by various genetic, social, economic factors, infection and environmental condition, many of which may affect fetal growth. Physiological adaptation results in improved utilization of nutrients either through increased absorption, decreased excretion and alteration in metabolism. A woman whose diet is adequate before pregnancy is usually able to bear a full-term viable infant, without extensive modification to her diet.
