Abstract

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes a comprehensive, multidisciplinary and skill-based approach to learning, represents a dramatic change in India's educational landscape. This paper explores the transformative role of NEP 2020 in mathematics education, focusing on its impact on curriculum design, pedagogical practices and assessment methods. The policy advocates for conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills and the integration of technology to enhance mathematical thinking. Additionally, it promotes flexibility in learning, interdisciplinary approaches and competency-based assessments to foster deeper engagement with mathematics. By analyzing these reforms, this study highlights the potential of NEP 2020 to make mathematics education more accessible, engaging and aligned with real-world applications, ultimately preparing students for future challenges in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
