Abstract

When focusing on the creative aspects of modern poetry, Jagdish Gupta’s poetic creations reflect a deeply ingrained Indian philosophical tradition. This is why his poetry often embodies the essence of riverbanks and the free companionship of nature, never being overwhelmed by urban civilization. Rather than integrating with the metropolitan environment, his poetry seems to fragment the visuals, as modern city life remains an exception in Indian culture, unlike in Europe. Instead of evoking harmony, his poetry conveys an awareness of internal disparity. However, when examining Dr. Jagdish Gupta’s poetic works as a modern poet, it becomes evident that he positions himself as a key advocate of modern poetry. His poetic identity fully immerses itself in the poetic tradition, making his contribution to the evolution of new poetry significant.

Abstract in Hindi Language:  नयी कविता के सृजनात्मक पक्ष पर ध्यान दे तो जगदीश गुप्त की काव्य सर्जना में एक विशेष संस्कारमय भारतीय चिन्तनधारा के अन्तःसूत्र निहित है। यही कारण है कि उनमें काव्य सर्जना में नदी तट का वास और प्रकृति का मुक्त साहचर्य उन्हें यह नगरीय सभ्यता से कभी ग्रस्त नहीं कर सका। आज के महानगर परिवेश को जोड़ने की जगह दृश्यों को तोड़ते अधिक प्रतीत होते हैं, क्योंकि योरोप की तरह भारतीय जीवन में वे अब भी अपवाद है। समती की जगह वे आन्तरिक विषमता की प्रतीति कराते हैं। लेकिन नये कवि के रूप में जब डॉ. जगदीश गुप्त की काव्य सर्जना की ओर आकृष्ट होते हैं तो यह विदिंत होता है कि नयी कविता के प्रमुख अध्वेता के रूप में अपने को रखकर ही देखते हैं, यह कवि व्यक्तित्व का अपने आपको काव्यधारा में समग्र रूप से तिरोहण ही कहा जा सकता है ।
