Abstract

By the end of the seventeenth century, the Mughal Empire had reached the peak of its territorial expansion. During this period, it faced several political and administrative challenges. The economic and social conditions from the reign of Akbar to the end of the seventeenth century should be considered as a single phase since no fundamental changes occurred during this time. In the medieval period, Indian society was primarily organized around a feudal structure, which remained intact under Mughal rule. The emperor stood at the pinnacle of power, with his court serving as the center of wealth and authority. By the end of the seventeenth century, the Mughal Empire had reached its territorial zenith and had to deal with various political and administrative issues. While no fundamental changes occurred in the economic and social structures during this period, significant socio-economic developments did take place, which this analysis aims to explore.

Abstract in Hindi Language:  सत्रहवीं शताब्दी के अन्त तक मुगल साम्राज्य अपने विस्तार के चर्मोत्कर्ष पर पहुँच गया था। इस काल में इसे कई राजनैतिक और प्रशासनिक समस्याओं का सामना करना पड़ा। आर्थिक और सामाजिक क्षेत्रों में अकबर के शासन काल से लेकर सत्रहवीं शताब्दी के अन्त के समय को हमें एक काल ही समझना चाहिए क्योंकि इस दौरान कोई बुनियादी परिवर्तन नहीं हुये। मध्यकाल के दौरान, भारतीय समाज मुख्य रूप से सामंती ढांचे के इर्द-गिर्द संगठित था जो मुगल शासन के दौरान भी कायम रहा। राजा अपनी शक्ति के शिखर पर था। उसका दरबार धन और शक्ति का केंद्र था। सत्रहवीं शताब्दी के अंत तक, मुगल साम्राज्य अपने क्षेत्रीय शिखर पर पहुँच गया था। उस दौरान, इसे कई राजनीतिक और प्रशासनिक मुद्दों से निपटना पड़ा। आर्थिक और सामाजिक क्षेत्रों में, अकबर के आगमन से लेकर सत्रहवीं शताब्दी के अंत तक की अवधि को एक ही माना जा सकता है क्योंकि इसमें कोई मौलिक परिवर्तन नहीं हुआ था, हालाँकि महत्वपूर्ण सामाजिक और आर्थिक विकास हुए थे जिनका हम विश्लेषण करने का प्रयास करेंगे।
