Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s Internment at Ranchi (1916-1920): Silent but meaningful years in his Life

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was an important character for the history of independent India. But the history could not give justice to him. It is the fact that he had a great contribution in the every pages of Indian history. In this article, we can discuss about those periods of his life when he was confined in Ranchi and living a life in exile at the outskirt of Ranchi. He was expelled from Calcutta due to his literary activities and took residence at Ranchi with a lot of restrictions imposed by the Bihar and Orissa government. Despite of that, he did not stop his activities and forget his duties towards his countrymen. In his internment, he makes mosque as a place where people not only from Ranchi but from distant places came and took suggestions from him in various matters. For the people of Ranchi, he emerged as a leader and messiah.
