Abstract

Alwar district of Rajasthan is a highly significant and mineral-rich region, where mining activities related to stone, gravel, and construction materials are extensively carried out, particularly in Tijara Tehsil. In recent years, rapid industrialization, urbanization, and infrastructure development have led to a substantial increase in the demand for mineral resources, resulting in the expansion of mining operations. Although these activities have contributed to regional economic growth, employment generation, and industrial development, they have also given rise to serious environmental imbalances and ecological challenges. The present research paper analyzes the environmental problems caused by mining activities in Tijara Tehsil from a geographical perspective. The study provides a detailed examination of major impacts such as air pollution, decline in groundwater levels, contamination of water sources, land degradation, reduction in agricultural productivity, loss of biodiversity, and noise pollution. Furthermore, it highlights the effects of mining on local livelihoods, public health, and the social structure of the region. The study also explores the possibilities of achieving sustainable development while addressing the environmental challenges associated with mining activities.

Abstract in Hindi Language:
