Abstract

In the folk culture of Rajasthan, the tradition of the Five Pirs is not merely a matter of religious faith but also represents a significant cultural heritage of social harmony, public welfare, and responsibility towards nature. Folk deities such as Pabuji, Hadbuji, Ramdevji, Gogaji, and Mehaji Mangaliya conveyed messages of equality, service, coexistence, and harmony in society through their lives, actions, and folk ideals. Their teachings place humanity above caste, class, and religious distinctions. This is why various communities in Rajasthan continue to worship these folk deities with equal devotion. Environmental consciousness is also an important aspect of the folk tradition of the Five Pirs. Beliefs concerning the protection of livestock, cow service, conservation of water sources, balanced use of natural resources, and compassion towards animals and other living beings have been integral to their philosophy of life. Their folk narratives strengthen the idea of mutual coexistence between human beings and nature and, in the context of the present environmental crisis, provide inspiration for sustainable development and ecological balance. The present research paper provides an analytical study of the folk tradition of the Five Pirs of Rajasthan with reference to social harmony and environmental consciousness.

Abstract in Hindi Language:
