Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Teaching: Insights from Trainee Teachers

Artificial intelligence has fundamentally reshaped the landscape of teaching and learning; however, its ultimate success depends heavily on how it is implemented within educational framework. As teachers remain the central pillars of the education system, understanding their perception of AI integration is essential. Gaining the insight is critical, as they reveal the extent of educator’s acceptance, their level of preparedness and their primary concerns regarding the use of AI in the classroom. The study focused on taking the perception of the future teacher or the trainee teachers who would reshape the future education system. That would help in policy making, in the development of effective training programmes and designing of sound pedagogies in learning. To know the perception of trainee teachers an exhaustive primary survey has been conducted on the awareness, understanding and willingness of the future teacher. The result shows that 86.1% trainee teachers are aware about AI integration and 66.4% understand the usability of AI and 70.4% are willing to use AI in learning and teaching. It shows that the proportion of understanding about AI implication in education system is relatively less than the others which means there is lack in proper training and learning about AI. Thus, the study suggests for more training of the teachers about the usability of AI in classroom teaching. AI integration in education with proper adaptability among teachers is a great step towards a future efficient education system. Thus, the study is more significant in the present context to build a sustainable education system.
