Abstract

This article analyses Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s and Sefi Atta’s selected short stories from their short story collection, Thing around Your Neck (2009) and News from Home (2010). These books highlight a dominant thematic and stylistic, narrative shift in African literature over the decades. Being a part of third generation African writers they exhibit a cosmopolitan vision of the contemporary African condition, cultural production and the subjectivities of gender and class. These short stories illuminate the diasporic experiences, legal and illegal migration from African countries.
