This research examines the interplay between academic stress and emotional intelligence among undergraduates in higher education. Academic stress refers to the psychological burden arising from academic demands such as exams, assignments, and expectations, whereas emotional intelligence (EI) denotes the capacity to perceive, regulate, and apply emotional information in oneself and others. A sample of 200 arts and science students from bhojpur district of Bihar was assessed using standardized scales. Results showed significant differences in stress and EI scores across academic disciplines. However, the correlation between academic stress and emotional intelligence was weak and statistically non-significant. The findings offer implications for institutional support strategies and future research.
