Abstract

India's National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 marks a significant change in the country's education system, striving to reshape it from early childhood to higher education. Its core objective is to improve teacher education to develop a skilled educator workforce. Teachers' knowledge, dedication, quality, professional commitment, and motivation contribute to high-quality education and student achievement. A teacher's job has grown increasingly complicated due to new pedagogical and psychological theories, philosophy, sociology, globalisation, and today's ever-growing body of knowledge. Today's teacher education programmes must be well thought out and creative. Producing such teachers might seem a challenging task. In this context, it is appropriate to analyse the educational policy document, especially concerning teacher education. Therefore, this paper presents a SWOC (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and challenges) analysis of NEP 2020 regarding teacher education.
