Abstract

Under political rights in the Indian Constitution, all persons have been given the right to vote at the age of 18 years. Political participation is such a political act of a person which affects the selection of political office holders and their decision-making. The franchise is consequential for political participation. It is clear that there will be no guarantee of women's representation in political institutions, till then it is not possible to achieve the real goal of their participation. The participation of young women is also less. To increase the participation of women in politics, it is necessary to make them economically independent and educated.

भारतीय संविधान में राजनीतिक अधिकार के तहत सभी व्यक्तियों को 18 वर्ष की उम्र पर वोट देने का अधिकार दिया गया है। राजनीतिक सहभागिता व्यक्ति का ऐसा राजनीतिक कृत्य है जिससे राजनीतिक पद धारकों का चयन व उसकी निर्णयकारिता प्रभावित होती है। मताधिकार राजनीतिक सहभागिता के लिए परिणाम परक होता है। यह स्पष्ट है कि राजनीतिक संस्थाओं में महिलाओं के सुनिश्चित प्रतिनिधित्व की प्रत्याभूति नहीं होगी तब तक उनकी सहभागिता के वास्तविक लक्ष्य की प्राप्ति संभव ही नहीं है। युवा महिलाओं की सहभागिता भी कम ही रहती है। महिलाओं की राजनीति में सहभागिता बढ़ाने के लिए उन्हें आर्थिक रूप से आत्मनिर्भर तथा शिक्षत करना जरूरी है।
