Portrayal of Women in Varsha Adalja’s Novels

વર્ષા અડાલજાની નવલકથાઓમાં નારી નિરૂપણ

Abstract

The present research paper aims to highlight the diverse and unique portrayals of women in the novels of Varsha Adalja, a prominent feminist writer in Gujarati literature. This study examines selected significant novels of Varsha Adalja, including Shravan Tara Sarvada, Mare Pan Ek Ghar Hoye, and Khari Padelo Tahuko, to explore the different forms and dimensions of women’s representation. The paper also discusses how the depiction of women shapes the narrative structure of these novels and emphasizes the distinctive place her feminist works occupy within Gujarati literature. Furthermore, it illustrates how the fundamental image of women emerges through her novels.

Abstract in Gujarati Language: પ્રસ્તુત સંશોધન લેખમાં ગુજરાતી સાહિત્યના અગ્રણી નારીવાદી લેખિકા વર્ષા અડાલજાની નવલકથાઓમાં નારી નિરૂપણના જુદા જુદા પણ આગવા રૂપો દર્શાવવાનો આશય રહ્યો છે..આ સંશોધન લેખમાં વર્ષા અડાલજાની મહત્ત્વપૂર્ણ નવલકથાઓ પૈકી ' શ્રાવણ તારા સરવડા', 'મારે પણ એક ઘર હોય' અને 'ખરી પડેલો ટહુકો' માં આવતી નારીઓના વિવિધ રૂપો ખોલવાનો પ્રયાસ કરવામાં આવ્યો છે.આ નારી જ નવલકથાના સ્વરૂપ ઘડતર તેમજ ગુજરાતી સાહિત્ય ક્ષેત્રે ચાલી રહેલ નારીવાદી કૃતિઓમાં આગવું સ્થાન કેવી રીતે ધરાવે છે તેની વાત કરવામાં આવી છે.આ ઉપરાંત આ નારીની મૂળભૂત છબી નવલકથાઓના માધ્યમથી કેવી રીતે ઉપસી આવે છે તે પણ દર્શાવવામાં આવ્યું છે.
