This present study focused on one of the tribal languages of Nagaland. Lotha is one of the vernacular languages of North-Eastern India. It is widely spoken in Wokha district of Nagaland. It has shown evidences of unique numeral system. The counting system of this language is up to lakhs ‘kana’. It has large number of numerals which are divided into seven (7) broad categories- Cardinal numerals, Ordinal numerals, Fractional numerals, Multiplicative numerals, Approximative numerals, Distributive numerals and Restrictive numerals. These seven categories are further divided into sub-categories on the basis of their structure. These structures provide certain unique patterns to create numerals in Lotha which are discussed in details in this present study.
