Abstract

The present paper elaborates on Abdulrazak Gurnah as a Postcolonial literary artist. It systematically endeavours to explore thematic and various formal characteristics of the cultural identity and colonial legacies. It describes the historical formation and colonial impact on the characters. Gurnah’s literary works depict the complicated network of social codes, emotions, and stories to develop a perspective in a highly unbalanced and multicultural social reality. His literary works constantly describe cultural alienation, migration, and social narrative. Gurnah is known for his significant work, which prominently deals with the conflict between home-based customs and African imperialism and highlights the interferences in confronting various cultures of refugees and the construction of their cultural identity and their memories.
