Abstract

The present study is an attempt to quantitatively assess the academic quality of South African Journal of Libraries and Information Science. It examines the various aspects related to the journal for the period 2017-2021 using bibliometric analysis. Keeping in view the objectives of the study, the data were collected from the 9 issues of the journal covering the five identified years.  The study revealed that a total of 46 papers were published during the study period, highest being 11 each in the year 2017, 2020 and 2021 respectively. It was found that during the whole period, majority of the papers (24) were contributed by two authors each. Out of the total number of papers published, 24 were of 7-9 pages each in length. The study also highlighted that 7 papers listed 61-70 references each. The detailed analysis of various aspects of journals will lead to improvement in Journal Impact Factor which will be beneficial for researchers in their decision-making.
